Chapter 1: House Elves
We begin our encyclopedia with one of the more common and well known creatures on the list. This creature is most well known in the magic universe as being a slave-class species. They live their lives without owning a single possession and serving a witch or wizard. There are 3 ways a House elf can be made into a servant of a house, by being born into, bought or saved by the family. A notable house elf is the late elf Dobby, he served the famous wizard Harry Potter until harry freed him by giving him an article of clothing. Dobby returned the favor by saving Harry's life and unfortunately dying, he will be missed.
The only ways an elf can be freed by him owner is by
A) being given and article of clothing as their one possession or
B) dying.
